Buffalo Pinball tournament raises nearly $1,000 for Make-A-Wish Western New York

Fifty one pinball players battled it out in the name of a great cause and raised $988 for Make-A-Wish Western New York on Feb. 6 at Pocketeer Billiards and Sports Bar in Buffalo, NY.

Through eight hours of qualifying followed by playoffs, Kevin Manne took first place; Nick Lane, second; Dave Romanowski, third; and Bruce Nightingale, fourth.

Finishing eighth overall was Joe Ciaravino of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, who took home the trophy for B Division.

Buffalo Pinball Spring Team League

Get a group of 4-6 players together and go head-to-head with other ‘ballers in this fun, casual league. Here are the details:

When: 7:30 p.m., every other Wednesday, Feb. 3 through May 11, 2016 (Note that we may expand to Tuesday nights as well, depending on the number of teams.)

Where: Pocketeer Billiards and Bar, 2444 Clinton St., Buffalo

Cost: Free to enter, just pay to play the games.

When: Saturday, February 6. Qualifying is from 10am – 6pm. Playoffs will begin at 7pm

Since this is for charity, no cash prizes will be given, but trophies will be awarded. This is an IFPA-endorsed event and WPPR points will be awarded.

Ian Harrower wins Pocketeer Winter Pinball Tournament

It was a Canadian takeover at the Pocketeer Winter Pinball Tournament as all top 5 finishers in the A Division hailed from our neighbor to the north.

Held Jan. 10, 2016, the tournament saw a total of 59 players compete across both divisions–our biggest tournament to date! The top three finishers were Ian Harrower, first place, Jack Tadman, second place and Adam Becker, third place.

In B Division, the USA fared better with Martha Donovan finishing first, Brian Benton, second and Doug Heerdt, third.

Full final standings for both divisions are below and will be posted to the IFPA for world ranking soon. Thank you to everyone who came out and played for making it a great time.

Bruce Nightingale wins Holiday Hangover Tournament

Congratulations to Bruce Nightingale for taking first place in the Holiday Hangover tournament, presented by Buffalo Pinball Dec. 27 at Moonwalker Arcade in Vestal, NY. Rounding out the top four were Joe Lane, second place, Eric Russell, third place, and JT Harrison, fourth place.

Congratulations to The Golden Guys: Captain Dave Romanowski and teammates Kevin Manne, Jim Meszler, Bruce Nightingale, Curt Pasisz and Jeff Wirth, for going undefeated and winning the inaugural season of the Buffalo Pinball Team League.

In all, ten teams totaling more than 50 players came out every other Wednesday night for some fun, head-to-head pinball action. Thanks to everyone for making Team League a big hit and a lot of fun.

Pocketeer Winter Pinball Tournament

First tournament of the new year! Perfect for all skill levels!

When: Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016
Doors open at 11, tournament play begins at noon.

Where: Pocketeer Billiards and Bar, 2444 Clinton St., Buffalo, NY

Cost: $15 for A Division and $10 for B Division.
Players ranked 4,000 or better in the IFPA are restricted to A. All money will be paid out in trophies and cash (no trophies for B). Note: You’ll also need some cash the day of the event to play the games.

Format: Group match play style tournament with guaranteed 4 hours of play for A division and 2 hours of play for B division. Play starts at Noon and goes to 4pm (2pm for B). Playoffs for A starts at 5pm (no playoffs for B).

What is match play? Match play is where you compete on a single machine in groups of 3 or 4. You’re awarded points based on the number of people in your group you defeat. We play as many rounds as we can in the time limit allotted.

When registering, please include the tournament name “Pocketeer Winter Pinball Tournament” and which division you are registering for “A Division” or “B Division.”

Limited to 40 players in A and 20 players in B. Preregistering is highly encouraged as the event may sell out.

Play will begin promptly at noon. No players will be admitted after that time, regardless if they have preregistered.

This event is endorsed by the IFPA and worth WPPR points.

Number of playoff spots and format will be determined closer to the tournament.

Buffalo Pinball at RetroGameCon

rgcBuffalo Pinball is headed to RetroGameCon in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, Nov. 14! We’ll be hanging out, giving pinball tutorials and streaming live to our Twitch channel throughout the day. Watch for a live “Bro, do you even pinball?” battle versus Shane Luis of Rerez and more.
